Progressive development, in a general sense, refers to development that occurs gradually over time, marked by incremental progress and improvements. It emphasizes the idea that meaningful change often happen in steps, rather than in quantum leaps. Progressive development frequently involves engaging with stakeholders, building consensus, and fostering collaboration to address complex issues.

The last nine months has witnessed a steady progress in the Polytechnic. On Tuesday April 29, 2025, the Institution recorded another giant stride. The Rector, Dr Victor Okolobah through the approval of the Academic Board inaugurated the Institution’s international Institute for Research (FPOG).

The Institute is to drive significant societal advancements through extensive research and projects. It is to undertake projects and research across multiple disciplines, aimed at addressing some of the most pressing challenges of our time.

The birth of the Institute signal a global attention to the Polytechnic as a centre for scientific research, development and educational projects. The centre stage for contemporary academic research is now domiciled at Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, Bonny.

The Institute after inauguration has the following composition:

3. Dr Naomi Ogolo Member.

4. Mr Samson Eleje Member.

5. Mr Olaiya Samuel Babayemi Member.

7. Mr Aaron Kiani T. Member.

8. Mr Ezekiel Hart James Member.

9. Mr Awuhe Timothy T. Member.

10. Mrs Wilson Joy Friday Secretary.

Already, international partners have begun to indicate interests such as Water Column Biogeochemistry Research Division, GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research, Kiel City, Germany have officially written and indicated interest to work with the Research Centre of the Polytechnic along with several others.

Leadership indeed is at the centre of every meaningful human progress and Dr Victor Okolobah has consistently demonstrated the definition of leadership and has also redefined leadership in special ways.

The horizon certainly has so many stars waiting to shine on the Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, Bonny, in the coming days, weeks, months and years ahead.
